There is no doubt that Windows 10 has come to completely change the way we view the most famous operating system on the planet - Microsoft seems even willing to record its name in computer history once again with this new release.

By blending in one place with the best features of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, the company plans to create a single OS capable of serving both desktops and convertible device owners - that is, capable of working with or without a keyboard.

There is still a few days left before the final release of the system is released worldwide, but if you're not feeling the anxiety to get your hands on this new thing, you can install 10240 on your computer right now. This is Windows 10 RTM, that is, the edition being distributed for manufacturers to embed in their computers, tablets and other gadgets.

The return of the Start menu

It would be no exaggeration to say that Windows's main novelty is the return of the good old Start menu, which has been around since the early days of the operating system and was eliminated in issue 8. Not everyone liked the change, so Microsoft decided to bring it back with a completely repaginated look.

It now features the iconic minimalist design that became popularly known as "Metro", featuring application shortcuts and so-called live tiles, for example, the most important news of the day and weather forecast for your location. There is a section that separates the most used and newly installed apps, as well as shortcuts for the file explorer, OS settings, and PC shutdown button.

A system for all

Another major highlight of the new Windows is its ability to adapt its own interface according to the type of device on which it is running. When you open the system notification area, you will find a button that activates the tablet mode - in it, the Start menu will occupy the entire display of your gadget and the OS UI as a whole is much more pleasant for sensitive screen devices to the touch.

Edge: Successor of Internet Explorer

Windows 10 also comes with the Edge (formerly Project Spartan), a new browser that Microsoft has developed to replace the classic Internet Explorer. Fast, stable and easy to use, the browser features a number of unreleased features. It allows, for example, you to generate instant screenshots of the site you visit, scribble freehand comments, and share that image with your friends without appealing to add-ons.

Other cool features include a read mode (which "cleans" unnecessary page elements to make it more comfortable) and the ability to quickly switch between two colors for the interface (light and dark). In addition, the Edge home screen is fully customizable, displaying the sites you frequently access and a feed of important news extracted directly from MSN.

Finally, multiple desktops!

Linux has had this feature for some time, but Windows users have missed the ability to create multiple Workspaces and switch freely between them. Fortunately, Microsoft has decided to open such functionality in this new edition of OS. Now when you open Windows Flip (the screen in which you switch between open windows), you can click on "New Desktop" to open a new Desktop.

Meet Cortana, your virtual assistant

Cortana, a personal assistant born on Windows Phone, just came to the desktops thanks to Windows 10 - and it works the same way we all know. Next to the Start menu, there is a bar called "Search the web and Windows"; when you click it, you invoke the virtual secretary and can search by voice or by text. Searches return local results (from your computer) and online (sites, news, etc.).

Native and exclusive apps

Get ready to find some really neat new apps in the new Windows 10. In addition to a redesigned app store, you'll find, for example, a neat new GPS location app (Maps), plus a utility for those want to model objects in three dimensions (3D Builder).

It's worth noting that, unlike Windows 8, these apps do not necessarily have to run full screen - you can even create the composition you want on your display, displaying multiple of them at the same time and creating a "mosaic" of programs. Very useful for working on multiple tasks simultaneously.

An OS with your face

The possibilities of customization of Windows 10 go far beyond the classic wallpaper and screen saver. The operating system has two distinct visuals (one light theme and one dark theme), choose an accent color (the highlight color of the interface, which by default is blue) and even customize your login screen.

Windows 10 RTM is the most stable edition of the OS that you can download to your machine before its official release. During our tests, the build proved to be very reliable, fast, light and extremely responsive. Although we do not recommend that you install such ISOs on your main PC (or replace your current operating system), it must be said that build 10240 can already be used normally in your day to day.

Microsoft has mastered the project since the system - Windows 10 is beautiful. The Start menu blends the beauty of Windows 8 with the convenience of Windows 7. It's easy to find your programs, open the control panel and access the file explorer. Even the clock / calendar has received a whole new design and a lot more modern than the ones we are used to.

It also impresses the ease of switching quickly between tablet mode and desktop mode - just click a button so that the OS interface changes quickly. This is a very useful resource for anyone who has a convertible device, that is, that works both as a tablet and as a notebook.

Another very nice novelty is Cortana, but she is unfortunately only available in English at the moment. She can quickly find lost documents in the darkest corners of her machine, as well as search for things on the internet and show you notifications about subjects that interest her. It's just one of the cool apps you'll find in the new Windows: we also enjoy 3D Builder and Maps.

Note that it is very likely that the commercial edition of Windows 10 - that is, the one you will find in the stores or download directly to your machine from Microsoft - will contain even more news and cool features, since it will be a victim of more updates as soon as available to the public. Therefore, we must wait until we actually issue a conclusive opinion about the OS.

Still, if you can not wait a few days and wonder what Windows 10 was like, it's worth downloading this RTM, even if it's to run it in a virtual machine. The system is quite stable and can be used without problems.
